What to Expect From the 2022 Toyota Tundra

The all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra is expected to be bigger, better, and offer a different powertrain. Its improvements will make it much more desirable for Toyota enthusiasts. The next generation will soon be here, maybe along with an all-electric model as an option to other upcoming EV pickups, like the Ford F-150 Lightning.

BIG AND FEARLESS: The first thing to notice is the boisterous front end with integrated lighting elements. It also has three amber running lights integrated into the grille, which are legally required on large vehicles that are more than 80 inches wide. The new 2022 Tundra will also likely be equipped with a redesigned rear-suspension setup for an improved ride, instead of utilizing the leaf-spring setup. This next generation of Tundra will probably ride on the more refined coil springs.

TUNDRA POWER: There have been rumors and more rumors about the replacement of the Tundra’s powertrain, the trustworthy 381-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine. More than likely, Toyota is expected to replace it with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that cranks out over 400 horses. Even more juicy gossip is that the 2022 Tundra could be available with a hybrid powertrain too.

INFOTAINMENT AND CONNECTIVITY: To compete with Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500’s huge touchscreens, the new Tundra looks to have a massive screen of its own. Based on the released image teasers by Toyota, it’s a fairly large horizontally mounted touchscreen in the middle of the 2022 Tundra’s dashboard. While the exact size is unknown or what features will be offered, we do know it’ll have Apple CarPlay.
