Toyota celebrates 30 millionth U.S.-assembled vehicle!

Toyota is not just a leader in U.S. auto sales, it’s also a leader in U.S. automobile manufacturing, with American plants staffed with American workers cranking out new Toyotas all over the nation since first manufacturing Corollas here beginning in 1986. Recently, the brand’s commitment to supporting the U.S. economy reached another milestone, with the announcement that the 30 millionth U.S.-assembled Toyota vehicle recently rolled off the assembly line.

The big moment came recently at Toyota’s Princeton, Indiana manufacturing plant, and it was a nod toward the more sustainable future of the brand as well, given that the 30-millionth U.S.-built Toyota was an example of the all-new, hybrid-only 2021 Toyota Sienna. With a celebratory horn honk and a flash of the headlights, the Sienna rolled into the history books.

“Being responsible for Toyota’s 30-millionth U.S.–assembled vehicle is a huge point of pride for all of us at Toyota Indiana,” said Leah Curry, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana president. “Together with our supplier partners, we build vehicles with our customers in mind. We’ve worked hard to give them an all-new Sienna that’s ready for any of life’s adventures.” That same pride spreads across all the Toyota manufacturing facilities.

“For 35 years, our employees have been assembling vehicles in the U.S. with an unwavering commitment to safety and quality,” said Brian Krinock, senior vice president, Vehicle Manufacturing & Production Engineering for Toyota North America. “On behalf of our 36,000 employees in the U.S. who help design, engineer, assemble and distribute ten popular Toyota and Lexus models, we thank our loyal customers for putting their trust in our products and going places with us.”

Toyota currently operates 10 manufacturing plants in the U.S. and 14 in North America. Toyota has reaffirmed this commitment with the investment of $13 billion into their U.S. manufacturing operations between 2017 through 2021, adding more than 6,500 new jobs.

At the Toyota plant in Indiana where the 30 millionth U.S.-built Toyota was manufactured, that commitment has created 550 new jobs, with $1.3 billion invested in new tooling and technology as the plant scaled up to build the 2021 Toyota Sienna, the first minivan to be offered with a hybrid-only powertrain.
