Arkansas Hot Spots to visit in your Toyota 4Runner
After such a shut-in winter, Spring is here and it’s high time to get reacquainted with all the fabulous landmarks in the Natural State. Right here in central Arkansas, there are beautiful lakes and mountains to visit. Petit Jean State Park
Morrilton, AR
Let’s start our list with everybody’s favorite, Petit Jean State Park which includes Petit Jean Mountain. The ancient beauty and amazing geology of the legendary mountain inspired the creation of Arkansas’s first state park. The park encompasses the mountain’s rugged beauty with its rustic-native log and stone facilities constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1933.
Pinnacle Mountain State Park
Little Rock, AR
Of course, we definitely can’t forget about Pinnacle Mountain State Park right here in Little Rock’s backyard. It is a gorgeous place to visit on the weekends with the family, plus it’s just west of the capital city. There are over 15 miles of trails including seven miles of challenging mountain bike trails. From cliffside views to the view along the river valley at the bottom of Pinnacle, everywhere your view lands, it’s spectacular and truly amazing.
Lake Ouachita State Park
Mountain Pine, AR
Just about an hour and a half southwest from Little Rock is Lake Ouachita State Park which includes one of Arkansas’ favorite lake systems. Lake Ouachita is Arkansas’s largest lake – 40,000 acres of clear, clean water surrounded by the scenic Ouachita National Forest. It is definitely a wonderful place to break away for the weekend. Plenty of swimming areas and fishing spots.
